Road worker killed in tragic accident on TF-1 in South Tenerife
A tragic accident claimed the life of a 57-year-old road maintenance worker last night (Tuesday) on the TF-1 motorway near Fañabé, in Adeje, Tenerife. According to the emergency coordination centre, the man was hit by a vehicle while working on the motorway.
The incident happened just after 11 pm, paramedics from the Servicio de Urgencias Canario rushed to the roadside with both an advanced life support and a basic life support ambulance, accompanied by officers from the Guardia Civil, and firefighters. Despite their efforts to save him, the man was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.
Traffic in the area was disrupted as emergency teams worked to secure the site. The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision, while road maintenance crews assisted in cleaning the area and restoring the normal traffic flow.
There have been several similar tragedies on the TF-1 in recent years. Earlier this year, another maintenance worker lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on the TF-1, and last year, a young tourist died while attempting to cross the busy road at night.
In a separate incident this week, a woman standing next to a broken-down vehicle on the hard shoulder of the TF-1 near the Los Cristianos exit was hit by a passing car and suffered a leg injury.
