Renowned Tenerife DJ Alex Kentucky found dead in Ibiza
The electronic music world is mourning the loss of Alex Kentucky, a renowned DJ and producer from Tenerife who had built a successful career in Ibiza, where he became one of the most respected figures in the deep house scene.
The news of his passing was shared by fellow DJ and close friend Jordi Carreras, who paid tribute to Kentucky as an artist with a legacy “full of sensitivity and depth”. The cause of death has not yet been confirmed.
A career rooted in passion
Alex Kentucky developed much of his career between Tenerife and Ibiza, earning multiple awards, including Best National DJ and Best Deep House DJ. Admired by colleagues and fans alike, he was affectionately nicknamed the “Maestro of Deep House”.
Specialist magazine Fiesta Bullshit described him as “one of the fundamental pillars of music in Ibiza”, highlighting his authenticity, warmth, and unique ability to transmit emotion through his sets. Local media also recalled him as “a vinyl enthusiast since childhood”, who began playing at friends’ parties before fully dedicating himself to music during his university years.
A fixture in Ibiza’s club scene
Kentucky performed at some of Ibiza’s most iconic venues, including Privilege, Space, PK2, Nassau Beach Club, and Nine Ibiza. He also worked as artistic director of Adult Music Records and was closely linked to Ibiza Global Radio, where he collaborated with many well-known artists on the island’s vibrant scene.
His passing has caused widespread sadness in the Ibiza music community, with tributes flooding social media from fans and fellow DJs alike. As Carreras wrote in his farewell message: “Your essence will remain eternal in music and in our memories.”
