Refurbished hotel in South Tenerife sold in major deal

Canarian tourism group Satocan has expanded into Tenerife for the first time after joining forces with Spain's Grupo Fuertes to acquire The Salmar, a recently refurbished four-star superior hotel in Golf del Sur, within the municipality of San Miguel de Abona.

The hotel occupies the site of the former Tenerife Golf & Sea View, previously known as Vincci Tenerife Golf. After closing in 2025 for a complete refurbishment, it has reopened as The Salmar, Adults Only, with a new identity and upgraded facilities.

According to the two companies, the refurbishment was designed to blend more naturally with the surrounding coastline while creating a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Its seafront location is intended to give guests the feeling of being aboard a cruise ship.

The acquisition marks Satocan's first hotel investment in Tenerife and represents a significant milestone for the company's tourism division. The Canary Islands-based group already owns and operates holiday resorts in Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura.

Grupo Fuertes is one of Spain's leading privately owned business groups, and has interests across more than 20 companies, with businesses spanning food production, property development and the hotel sector.

The investment reflects continued confidence in Tenerife's tourism industry, particularly in the south of the island, where Golf del Sur remains a popular destination for holidaymakers, golfers and overseas residents. For visitors, the refurbishment also brings another modernised accommodation option to one of the island's best-known coastal resorts.
