The National Police have arrested five people of various nationalities for alleged drug trafficking and illicit association, after raids on two establishments in south Tenerife’s popular nightlife area known as ‘Las Veronicas’, that offered a ‘pick n mix’ of illegal narcotic substances.
The arrests followed a lengthy investigation into drug-related activities in the Veronicas area of Playa Las Americas, and a coordinated police operation was launched at the end of August, leading to the raids on two businesses suspected of illegal activities, as well as the main suspect's residence in Los Cristianos.
The operation resulted in the seizure of approximately 10 kilograms of marijuana, 1,232 grams of hashish, 682 grams of ‘rosin’ (a cannabis extract made through heat and pressure), 141 hand-rolled cigarettes containing illegal substances, 75 grams of mushrooms, 246 bottles of nitrous oxide (commonly known as "laughing gas"), and around 6,000 euros in cash.
The five people arrested, aged between 23 and 42, were taken into police custody, and one of them already has a criminal record for drug dealing. Additionally, substantial documentation linked to the illegal activities was found in the main suspect’s home.
Both venues have been sealed off by the police following a court order, as investigations continue.
