Police seize 900 kilos of hashish after suspicious van stopped in Tenerife
A 47-year-old man has been arrested in La Orotava after Guardia Civil officers discovered 23 bales of hashish, weighing a total of 900 kilograms, inside a van travelling along the TF-217 road in the early hours of yesterday morning (Friday).
According to an official press release, officers became suspicious when they noticed the rear of the vehicle was significantly overloaded, so tried to stop the van in a safe location to identify the driver and inspect the vehicle.
However, the driver tried to flee after spotting the officers and ignoring their signals. A coordinated security operation was launched, and the van was intercepted shortly afterwards.
Upon inspection, officers found the stash of hashish bales. The man was officially identified and arrested as the suspected perpetrator of drug trafficking. An investigation is underway.
