National Police officers have prevented a potential tragic incident at Tenerife South Airport, after stopping a 50-year-old Polish woman who tried to jump from an internal walkway in the airport to the floor, approximately ten metres below.
The woman, who was due to board a flight to Lanzarote, was reportedly “disoriented” and did not have valid travel documentation. Airport security staff directed her to the police offices inside the terminal to resolve the issue.
Once there, officers informed her that she would need to contact the Polish consulate to arrange new identification, but shortly after leaving the area, she walked towards one of the elevated walkways and approached the railing to jump.
Thanks to the swift actions of the National Police officers present, the woman was grabbed and pulled to safety before she could fall, averting a tragic outcome.
She was immediately attended to by airport medical staff and later transferred to Hospital de La Candelaria in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for further evaluation and care.
