A pedestrian has been seriously injured after being knocked over by a cyclist on Calle San Borondón in the municipality of San Bartolomé, in Lanzarote, according to reports from the emergency services.
The incident happened at around 1:00pm on Sunday when the Canary Islands Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert requesting urgent medical assistance for a male pedestrian who had been run over by a person riding a bicycle.
When SUC medical personnel arrived at the scene of the accident, they assessed the injured man and found he was suffering from multiple serious injuries (polytrauma), so they stabilised him before taking him to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Arrecife for further treatment.
The Local Police also attended the scene and have opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the cause of the accident. They also confirmed that the cyclist wasn’t injured in the collision.
