Nearly 100 taxi drivers in Tenerife have already registered with Uber

Last Thursday, June 15th, Uber officially started operating in the south of Tenerife, offering its prestige Uber Black service, which is a fleet of thirty chauffeur-driven luxury vehicles that is more exclusive and expensive service than taxis, whilst they waited for existing taxis to sign up to the app and be available via Uber to the public.

They have now confirmed that during their first week of service in Adeje, Arona, Guia de Isora, and Granadilla (including TFS airport), almost 100 taxi drivers in the south of Tenerife have registered with the app and are now available to be booked via Uber.

Uber have said they are delighted with the response so far and hope for continued positive results, as they are aiming for a harmonious collaboration between them and the taxi sector on the island.

The company will continue to assess the service and the app’s performance among residents and visitors of Tenerife, to determine the feasibility of expanding to other municipalities on the island, and eventually other islands.
