Municipal workers in Costa Adeje have begun extensive efforts to rebuild Fañabé Beach after it was significantly affected by the recent passage of Storm Therese.
The storm, which brought strong winds and heavy swells to the south of Tenerife, caused notable erosion along the shoreline, displacing large volumes of sand and temporarily disrupting one of the area’s most popular tourist beaches.
In response, the Adeje Council mobilised municipal crews and heavy machinery to accelerate recovery works and restore the beach, carefully redistributing sand back onto the affected areas. Workers are focusing on levelling the terrain and reinforcing the shoreline to ensure both safety and long-term stability.
A spokesperson for the local council confirmed that the operation is progressing on schedule, with priority given to restoring public access as quickly as possible.
Once the sand redistribution phase is complete, crews will begin reinstalling sunbeds and umbrellas, which were removed or damaged during the storm. These amenities are a key part of the beach’s appeal, particularly for visitors who flock to Costa Adeje year-round for its reliable climate and well-maintained facilities.
Local businesses have welcomed the swift response, noting that Fañabé Beach plays a crucial role in the area’s tourism economy. The rapid restoration effort is expected to minimise disruption for both tourists and residents.
