Motorcyclist injured after veering off road into a ravine in Tenerife

A 58-year-old man sustained multiple injuries yesterday, Sunday, after losing control of his motorcycle and falling into a ravine in the municipality of Fasnia, on the eastern coast of Tenerife.

The incident occurred around 1:40pm, when the Emergency and Security Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert reporting that a motorcyclist had veered off the road and plunged into a valley near Callejón de la Calle Las Vistas.

The necessary emergency resources were immediately dispatched to the scene. Firefighters were able to reach the injured rider and extract him from the ravine, carrying him on a stretcher to an ambulance where medical personnel were waiting.

After being stabilised at the scene, the man was taken by ambulance to the Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria University Hospital in Santa Cruz de Tenerife for further treatment to his injuries.

A rescue helicopter from the Emergency and Rescue Group (GES) was also deployed but was unable to carry out the evacuation due to the presence of overhead cables in the area. However, GES rescuers descended into the ravine and assisted firefighters in the rescue operation.

The Guardia Civil was present at the scene and has filed the corresponding accident report. The man's current condition has not yet been disclosed.
