A 28-year-old man is in critical condition after a serious motorcycle accident in the early hours of Sunday morning on the GM-1 road near the municipality of Hermigua, in La Gomera.
According to the Canary Islands Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOES), they received an alert at 1:00am informing them that the motorcyclist had sustained a severe head injury in the fall.
He was initially taken to the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Hospital on the island, but his condition deteriorated shortly after admission.
Due to the seriousness of his injuries, a medical helicopter was dispatched to transfer him to the Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria in Tenerife, where he was admitted in critical condition for urgent treatment.
The Guardia Civil has launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash. There are no further updates on the man’s condition at this time.
