Cloudy skies and scattered showers are expected across much of the Canary Islands today, Sunday, according to AEMET, although temperatures will remain mild throughout the archipelago.

Maximum temperatures are not expected to rise above 24°C, while the coolest overnight lows could fall to around 12°C in higher areas, but will remain comfortable for most residents and visitors across the islands.

At sea, moderate to rough conditions are forecast, with north-westerly winds reaching force 4 to 6 and waves between one and two metres. Calmer waters are expected along western coastlines.

Island-by-island forecast for Sunday 17^th May 2026:

Lanzarote
Cloudy conditions are expected overnight before easing into partly cloudy intervals during the day. There remains a slight chance of light rain, mainly in northern areas. Temperatures will stay stable, with moderate northerly winds.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and a high of 23°C.

Fuerteventura
Cloudy skies during the early hours will gradually give way to sunny spells around midday. Temperatures will remain largely unchanged. Moderate northerly winds are forecast, with stronger gusts possible in Jandía.
General temperature range: Low of 17°C and a high of 23°C.

Gran Canaria
Northern parts of the island will stay mostly cloudy, with occasional light rain possible early and late in the day. The rest of the island will enjoy generally clearer conditions. Temperatures will see little change. Moderate north-easterly winds could become strong at times in the south-east and far west, with isolated very strong gusts not ruled out.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and a high of 23°C.

Tenerife
Cloud is expected mainly in the north, particularly in north-eastern areas where light rain may occur during the morning and evening. Elsewhere, conditions will be brighter, although cloud cover could increase during the afternoon in southern and western parts of the island, where isolated light showers are also possible. Temperatures will remain steady. Moderate north-easterly winds may strengthen in exposed southern and western areas, with some locally very strong gusts possible.
General temperature range: Low of 18°C and a high of 24°C.
