Missing 85-year-old woman found and rescued in Tenerife
An 85-year-old woman who had been reported missing in northern Tenerife has been found and rescued by the Guardia Civil after an urgent search operation in difficult weather conditions.
According to a statement released today (Monday), officers from the Guardia Civil post in Icod de los Vinos found the elderly woman after she disappeared earlier in the day in the municipality of La Guancha. Her family had raised the alarm, warning that she could be disoriented.
As soon as the report was received, officers activated an immediate search operation, taking into account the adverse weather at the time, including heavy rain, as well as the uneven and difficult terrain in the area.
The search focused on the neighbourhood of El Pinalete, where officers organised coordinated sweeps along footpaths and wooded areas. Family members, friends and local residents also joined the effort, and their collaboration proved key to the woman’s quick location.
The woman was eventually found in a forested area, soaked by the intense rainfall and showing signs of hypothermia and confusion. Guardia Civil officers provided immediate assistance and evacuated her to a safe location.
She was later transferred to Hospital del Norte, where she received medical treatment. Her condition has not been reported as life-threatening.
