A man was stabbed and robbed by a friend in a violent incident in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, after the attacker demanded money to play slot machines. Police arrested the suspect shortly afterwards in a nearby bar.

The attack happened at around 9.00am on Tuesday in the Arenales area, as the victim walked along Luis Doreste Silva street. He was approached by someone he knew, who threatened him with a knife and demanded cash.

The situation quickly escalated when the attacker stabbed the victim several times before fleeing the area. The injured man is believed to be in his 30s. He suffered non-life-threatening injuries but was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers from the National Police launched a search operation after the victim provided a description of the suspect. Within a short time, they located him in a bar on León y Castillo street and made an arrest.

The suspect is of a similar age to the victim and known to him, although the police have not released further details about the motive beyond the initial robbery.
