Man sentenced to six years in prison for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old boy in Tenerife

The Provincial Court of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has sentenced a 63-year-old man to six years in prison for sexually assaulting a teenage boy, and ordered him to pay 5,000 euros in compensation.

Although the victim is currently 19 years old, the hearing was held behind closed doors, given the seriousness of the incident and to protect his identity.

The ruling establishes that the defendant went to a town square on August 5th, 2019, where he approached the teenager and offered him 50 euros in exchange for allowing him to perform fellatio on him, to which the young man agreed.

The victim currently suffers psychological distress as a result of what happened, such as general maladjustment, particularly in school and social settings, anxiety symptoms, and a constant sense of shame.

Although it is considered proven that violence was not used, the Court does conclude that the defendant was fully aware that the victim was 13 years old, as he acknowledged at trial, that he had known him since he was a child, as neighbours.

The crime of prostitution was ruled out because, despite inducing the young man to perform the sexual act in exchange for money, it was an isolated case, and there is no evidence that the man had performed this act before or after.

The victim said he accepted the offer "because he was driven by greed" to get a large amount of money for someone his age. He claims He used the fifty euros to buy candy.
