The body of a man has been found in Puerto de Santiago, in the south of Tenerife, following an emergency search operation carried out along the coast. The discovery was made on Saturday after several hours of searching by emergency teams on land and at sea, according to reports from local authorities.

The Guardia Civil confirmed that the body was located in the coastal area of the municipality during the operation, although no further details have yet been released about the man’s identity or the circumstances surrounding his death.

Search operation by land and sea

Emergency services launched a large search operation involving both maritime and land units, focusing on the coastline around Puerto de Santiago.

After hours of searching, the man’s body was eventually located and recovered.

The Guardia Civil have now taken charge of the investigation, which remains ongoing while officers work to determine what happened.

Identification still pending

Authorities have not officially confirmed the identity of the deceased. However, reports indicate that a 43-year-old local resident had been reported missing earlier in the area.

Officials have not yet linked the missing person case to the body found, pending formal identification.

The body remains under police custody while the necessary forensic procedures are carried out.
