Man killed during robbery at restaurant in the south of Tenerife

A man has died following a violent clash during an attempted robbery at a restaurant in the south of Tenerife. The incident occurred around midnight last night (Sunday) and is currently under investigation by the Guardia Civil.

According to eyewitness reports cited by the Local Police blog, the deceased is believed to have been one of the thieves attempting to rob the restaurant, which is identified as "Sauco", situated in a prime location near the seafront, in Alcalá, close to the luxury hotel Palacio de Isora.

The altercation took place when two restaurant managers resisted the robbery. A confrontation between the robbers and the staff ensued, resulting in severe injuries to both the criminals and the restaurant employees. During the struggle, one of the robbers succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

The restaurant managers had reportedly been stabbed during the incident but fought back against the two assailants. Both were subsequently taken to hospital for treatment.

The case is being handled by the Guardia Civil's Territorial Judicial Police Unit in southern Tenerife, along with the Crimes Against Persons Unit from Santa Cruz. Additionally, officers from the Guardia Civil's Forensic Laboratory are conducting a thorough inspection of the crime scene.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the full details of the tragic event.
