A 36-year-old man is in a serious condition after falling around seven metres into an empty water reservoir in Lomo de Mena, in the municipality of Güímar, Tenerife. The incident happened on Saturday afternoon and triggered a major emergency response due to the difficult terrain.

The man suffered multiple serious injuries in the fall and was treated at the location given by paramedics. After being stabilised, he was taken to a hospital in Santa Cruz for further specialist care.

Emergency crews from the local police in Güímar, two ambulances from the Canary Islands Health Service, firefighters from the Tenerife Fire Consortium and local volunteer firefighters were all called to the area. The complexity of the rescue initially led to a helicopter being placed on standby, although it was ultimately not needed thanks to the coordinated efforts on the ground.

Authorities highlighted the effectiveness of the operation, noting that teamwork between the different emergency services was key to reaching and evacuating the injured man quickly despite the challenging location.
