A 72-year-old man is fighting for his life after a severe drowning incident at a hotel in Tenerife. The man was immediately evacuated to a hospital for emergency care.
The incident occurred shortly before 3:00pm yesterday afternoon (Saturday) at a hotel in Puerto de la Cruz. The Canary Islands' Emergency Service Coordination Centre (CECOES) received a 112 distress call reporting that a hotel guest had been pulled unconscious from the pool.
The relevant emergency resources were immediately activated and dispatched to the hotel, and SUC medical personnel were the first to arrive.
Upon arrival, they assessed the victim's condition and provided urgent medical attention before taking him to the Hospiten Bellevue Hospital, where he was admitted in critical condition.
The Local Police are investigating the incident, urging hotels and recreational areas to review safety protocols to prevent future tragedies.
