Man hit by motorbike moments after stepping off bus in South Tenerife

A 40-year-old man is fighting for his life after being hit by a motorbike just moments after stepping off a bus on the TF-66 in Arona yesterday evening (Wednesday).
The incident happened near the busy Guaza roundabout shortly before 6 pm, in what witnesses described as a “violent collision” at the bus stop. According to emergency services, the pedestrian had barely taken a few steps when the motorbike collided with him at a high speed.
The Canary Islands Emergency Services (SUC) confirmed that the victim suffered a severe head injury and went into critical condition at the roadside. Paramedics worked urgently to stabilise him before rushing him to the Hospital Universitario Nuestra Señora de Candelaria.
The 35-year-old motorcyclist was also injured. He sustained a moderate hip injury and was transferred to the Hospital del Sur for further treatment.
Two SUC ambulances, Guardia Civil units and Road Maintenance teams attended the incident, forcing traffic to slow down on the TF-66 during. The Guardia Civil has taken charge of the investigation and will now determine how the crash unfolded and whether any factors, such as speed, visibility or driver error, contributed to the incident.
