Man arrested for strangling his mother and threatening her with a machete
The Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife have arrested a man accused of violently assaulting his mother and threatening her with a machete during a shocking incident over the weekend. The operation began after officers received an alert that a woman was being attacked by her son.
When police arrived at the home, it appeared empty at first. The suspect later emerged, claiming there was no one inside. Minutes later, however, the victim herself appeared and told officers what had happened.
According to her account, the man had forced his way into the home following an argument, held her against her will, and strangled her until she was left semi-conscious, preventing her from leaving the house. He then left but soon returned armed with a machete, which he used to threaten her.
The woman managed to calm her son down and took advantage of a moment when he stepped outside to smoke to escape to a neighbour’s house, from where police were alerted.
Thanks to the rapid intervention of the police, the situation was brought under control, and the suspect was detained. Officers seized several dangerous objects during the operation, including knives and other items capable of causing serious harm. The machete was later found hidden under a car, where the man had attempted to conceal it to avoid confiscation.
