Significant traffic changes are set to take place on the TF-1 motorway in the south of Tenerife this weekend, as the regional government continues essential construction work on the third lane between San Isidro and Las Américas.
According to the Canary Islands Department of Public Works, a full overnight closure of both carriageways of the TF-1 will be in effect from 9:00p.m. on Sunday (18th May), until 6:00a.m. on Monday morning.
The closure affects the section in Las Chafiras between kilometre points 62 and 64, in both directions.
The disruption is necessary to carry out the installation of formwork scaffolding (cimbra) on the seaward side of the overpass at the Chafiras junction.
To maintain traffic flow and minimise disruption, vehicles will be diverted through the Chafiras industrial estates (upper and lower zones) between exits 62 and 64. Signage and on-site staff will guide drivers through the temporary diversion route.
The General Directorate of Road Infrastructure is urging all motorists to exercise extreme caution, adhere strictly to traffic signs, and follow the instructions of road workers to ensure safety during this period.
Drivers are also advised to plan ahead and allow extra travel time when using this route during the scheduled closure hours, particularly if heading to the south airport.
