Lowest temperatures for over six months recorded in Tenerife

A significant drop in temperatures has been observed in the Canary Islands, with a particular impact in Tenerife in the last couple of days. Specifically, the meteorological station at Izaña, located in the Teide National Park, has recorded a notable decrease.

As reported by Meteo Tenerife, the minimum temperature recorded yesterday in Izaña was -0.2 degrees, a meteorological data point that stands out, as it is the first temperature below zero recorded since May.

These readings come after AEMET announced yesterday that the Canary Islands experienced their warmest October since 1961, with an average temperature of 23.8°C, representing a thermal anomaly of a huge 3.6°C.

Also, the average value of accumulated rainfall was 18.9 litres per square metre, which is only 59% of the expected amount, categorising October as a pluviometrically dry month, the twenty-seventh driest since 1961.
