The Los Cristianos Carnival has drawn to a close after several days of music, colour and festivities that once again transformed one of the most vibrant areas in the south of Tenerife. This year’s edition, inspired by outer space, filled the resort with cosmic-themed costumes, bright displays and imaginative performances.
Over the course of the celebrations, the carnival demonstrated once again that its appeal lies not only in its packed programme of events but also in the atmosphere it creates. Streets across Los Cristianos became lively meeting points where residents and visitors gathered to enjoy music, parades and performances together.
Gala nights take centre stage
As in previous years, the gala events were among the highlights of the carnival programme. The children’s queen, senior queen and adult queen galas produced some of the most spectacular moments of the celebrations.
These events showcased elaborate costumes, months of preparation by designers and participants, and the excitement of performers stepping onto the stage under the lights. The galas continue to play an important role in strengthening Los Cristianos’ reputation as one of the leading carnival destinations in southern Tenerife.
Drag show and street celebrations
Another major attraction was the drag gala, which has become one of the most distinctive events of the carnival. Known for its theatrical performances, humour and bold creativity, the show once again proved to be one of the most energetic and entertaining highlights of the programme.
The space theme provided the perfect backdrop for the extravagant costumes and imaginative stage performances.

However, what truly sets the Los Cristianos Carnival apart is its ability to move beyond the stage and into the streets. Throughout the weekend, the town was filled with music, costumes and celebrations as locals and visitors took part in the festivities.
Daytime carnival and coastal celebrations
The popular Day Carnival once again allowed people to enjoy the celebrations in the sunshine and by the sea, creating a relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.
Another standout event was the Ruta Playera, a unique carnival tradition that blends music, fancy dress and the coastal promenade. The event perfectly captures the spirit of Los Cristianos, combining carnival celebrations with the town’s seaside setting.
The grand carnival parade on Sunday afternoon also drew large crowds. Floats, dance groups, costumes and performers filled the streets with colour and rhythm, creating one of the most spectacular displays of the entire celebration.

Traditional farewell
The carnival will officially come to an end today, Monday, with the traditional Burial of the Sardine, a humorous and symbolic ceremony that marks the close of the festivities.
As tradition dictates, the event brings a theatrical farewell to the celebrations while leaving behind the feeling that the carnival spirit continues long after the final act.
