Knife attack in a south Tenerife street leaves victim hospitalised

A 31-year-old man was attacked with a knife in the middle of the street in the south of Tenerife on Thursday afternoon, leaving him hospitalised in serious condition.

According to the Canary Islands Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES), the incident took place in the Guargacho area of Arona, shortly after 3:25pm on Thursday afternoon.

CECOES dispatched the relevant resources on receiving an alert, and SUC medical personnel were the first to arrive at the scene where they found the man covered in blood from stab wounds to his chest.

After assessing, treating, and stabilising the injured man, they took him by ambulance to the Hospital del Sur for urgent medical care, where he was admitted in serious condition.

Officers from the Guardia Civil were also on hand at the scene, where they began an investigation into the assault. Details surrounding the motive or identity of the attacker have not yet been disclosed.
