A unique robotic dog named Khlipper has visited Lanzarote this month as part of a campaign to raise funds for its continued development. The project, led by the Fundación Disgrup in collaboration with the Khlipper brand, aims to create an advanced companion for people with disabilities, offering both assistance and safety.
Unlike a simple machine, Khlipper uses artificial intelligence to interact naturally with its user.
It can hold conversations, remember personal preferences and needs, monitor vital signs, and even detect falls using facial recognition cameras. In the event of an emergency, the robot dog is designed to automatically call 112 and unlock smart doors, allowing quick access for emergency services.
The initiative was presented at several public events across Lanzarote, including demonstrations at the Biosfera Shopping Centre in Puerto del Carmen and the famous Teguise Market. Visitors had the chance to meet Khlipper in action, ask questions, and learn how to support the project.
The foundation’s president, Guillermo Egido, and Enrique Lucea, CEO of Khlipper, joined the promotional tour, highlighting that the software needed to bring Khlipper fully to life depends entirely on the funds raised. They plan to work with one of the Canary Islands’ universities so the project not only develops further but also supports local talent and innovation.
According to Fundación Disgrup, Khlipper will return to the island soon as part of its ongoing campaign, which combines technology, inclusion, and a vision for the future.
