Intruder caught after breaking into home in Costa Adeje and fleeing on victim’s bike

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in Costa Adeje, south Tenerife, after allegedly breaking into a home while the occupants were asleep and then fleeing the scene on a stolen bicycle.

The incident happened after a British resident contacted police to report that an intruder had entered his property by climbing over a wall and forcing open a window.

According to the National Police, the suspect was reportedly disturbed by the homeowner while still inside the house, so he fled immediately, grabbing a bicycle with large sand tyres from the property to make his escape.

Officers quickly shared the suspect’s description and, within minutes, a patrol spotted a man matching it, riding a bicycle that fitted the one reported stolen.

The victim later confirmed the bike was his, and officers arrested the suspect on suspicion of burglary. He has been handed over to the judicial authorities for sentencing.
