More than 500 motorhomes and campervans are set to take part in a large-scale demonstration in Tenerife on Saturday (25th April), aiming to highlight ongoing concerns within the sector regarding lack of parking, lack of facilities, and why they feel increasingly watched and harassed, with no options for enjoying their campervans in designated areas.

There are 15,000 officially registered motorhomes and campervans in the Canary Islands, plus an additional 12,000 that arrive each year by ferry from mainland ports, bringing tourists to the island contributing to the local economy.

The protest has been organised by the Federation G3A in coordination with ACAT Tenerife, and is described as a “united, peaceful and open” demonstration, welcoming both associations and individual vehicle owners. Additional participants are expected to join along the route.

Event Details

The gathering will begin on Friday 24th April from 3:00pm at the El Gomero service station in Las Chafiras. This initial meet-up is intended to help coordinate the event and allow attendees to stay overnight ahead of the main demonstration.

The protest itself is scheduled for Saturday 25th April at 11:00am, starting from the same location. The planned route, still awaiting final approval from the Government Subdelegation, will pass through Granadilla, Abades, Candelaria (via Rambla de los Menceyes), and Santa Cruz de Tenerife, before returning along the same route with several regrouping points along the way.

“A United Voice”

Organisers stress that the demonstration is being carried out in coordination with authorities and is focused on strengthening the collective voice of the motorhome community.

“This demonstration is built on unity. It’s not about individuals, but about raising awareness of an issue affecting the entire motorhome community in the Canary Islands,” they said.

They are also encouraging strong participation to present a unified image of the sector and to increase visibility for their concerns across the islands.
