Holidaymaker in critical condition after being rescued from drowning at a Costa Adeje beach

A 56-year-old man was rescued with signs of drowning at a beach in the south of Tenerife yesterday afternoon (Sunday), specifically Playa del Bobo in Torviscas in Costa Adeje.

The Emergency Services Coordination Centre (CECOES) received an alert shortly after 4:00pm, reporting that a swimmer with signs of drowning had been rescued from the water and was being assisted by lifeguards in the breakwater area of the beach.

When SUC paramedics arrived at the location given, they confirmed that the man was in cardiac arrest and continued with the cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) procedures started by the lifeguards until they successfully revived him.

Once his pulse was restored and he was stabilized, the man, who has been identified as a 56-year-old German holidaymaker, was taken by ambulance to Hospiten Sur, where he was admitted in critical condition for further treatment.
