Hiker airlifted from Roque Nublo after medical emergency

A 68-year-old woman was rescued by helicopter earlier today (Saturday), after suffering a medical issue while hiking near Roque Nublo in Tejeda, Gran Canaria.

According to the Canary Islands Emergency Coordination Centre (CECOES), the alert was received at 12:05pm, prompting the immediate deployment of the relevant emergency resources, including a medical helicopter operated by the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC).

Upon arrival at the scene, medical personnel assessed the woman, who had experienced a temporary loss of consciousness. She was stabilised at the site before being airlifted to the Hospital Universitario Insular de Gran Canaria for further treatment.

Roque Nublo, one of Gran Canaria’s most iconic landmarks and popular tourist destinations, can present access challenges in emergencies due to its remote and elevated terrain.
