Guardia Civil issue 11 fines to jet ski companies in the south of Tenerife

The Guardia Civil has conducted various inspections of jet ski rental companies in the south of Tenerife as part of a broader campaign to regulate recreational boats and jet skis. These inspections resulted in 11 fines for multiple violations, according to a press release issued yesterday (Thursday).

Agents from the Fiscal and Border Patrol of Playa de las Américas carried out these annual inspections at the marinas in the southern part of the island.

The fines were issued for several reasons, including the absence of mandatory insurance receipts, illegible registration numbers, and operators not being properly registered on the vessels.

Several Jet Skis Sealed

Following the inspections, and in collaboration with a request from the General Treasury of the Social Security, several jet skis were immobilised and sealed so they can’t be used.

During the immobilisation process, agents verified the registration and chassis numbers of the jet skis. In one case, they discovered that the chassis number on the documentation did not match the number on the interior of the jet ski. "Following these checks, the owner of the jet skis is being investigated for allegedly falsifying a public document," they stated.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the authorities to ensure compliance with maritime regulations and to ensure maximum safety of recreational water activities in Tenerife.
