The Guardia Civil has successfully arrested a group of six thieves responsible for a series of vehicle break-ins in the south of Tenerife. They have been linked with at least 12 incidents of theft, targeting tourists in Los Abrigos.
The stolen items, valued at approximately 5,000 euros, include mobile phones, tablets, cash, and luggage.
The detainees used a consistent method to carry out their crimes. After forcing the window frames of parked vehicles, they gained access to steal small valuable items.
Their operations were meticulously planned, with tourists frequenting the natural swimming pools in Los Abrigos being their primary targets.
Using a rental car, the group ensured a quick getaway. Typically, one of them carried out the theft while another kept watch from the rent-a-car. This allowed them to act quickly and avoid drawing attention to themselves.
Arrest and Judicial Proceedings
After a detailed investigation, the Guardia Civil identified and detained all six suspects. Evidence has linked them to at least 12 cases of theft with force. Following their arrest, they were presented to judicial authorities along with the compiled evidence.
This operation marks a significant step in curbing organised crime in Tenerife’s popular tourist spots, reinforcing the commitment of local law enforcement to ensure the safety and security of residents and visitors alike.
