Gran Canaria is preparing for the arrival of the next Atlantic front, with Storm Francis expected to reach the island around 6:00pm, entering from the southwest.

Forecasts indicate that rainfall could exceed 40 litres per square metre, adding further strain to an island that is still dealing with the effects of Storm Emilia just fifteen days ago.

In Agaete, wind gusts have already reached 80 km/h, and various parts of the island continue to show clear signs of previous storm damage. One of the most affected areas remains the San Mateo road, where the aftermath of Emilia is still visible and repair work is ongoing.

Local authorities are urging caution as Storm Francis approaches, warning residents to avoid unnecessary travel during the late afternoon and evening when conditions are expected to worsen. Emergency teams remain on standby as Gran Canaria faces another round of severe weather.
