The National Police have arrested a German fugitive in Costa Adeje, in the south of Tenerife, thanks to international police cooperation after German authorities issued a request for his capture.
The fugitive had been sentenced to more than two years in prison in Germany for committing a knife-related assault but had evaded serving his sentence. Spanish authorities received the request to locate and detain him, from the Fugitive Section of the General Judicial Police Headquarters in Madrid.
With limited information suggesting the fugitive might be hiding in the Los Cristianos area, police launched an investigation, leading them to a property in Adeje being used as a cannabis club.
A surveillance operation was set up around the property, and on the evening of September 2nd, officers spotted a man parking his vehicle in front of the property at low speed.
Upon recognising him as the wanted individual, police swiftly arrested the fugitive and took him into custody. He was then transferred to a police station for further documentation before being handed over to the appropriate judicial authorities to process his extradition back to Germany.
