A man who had been evading justice for more than three years has been arrested by the Guardia Civil in Guía de Isora, in the south of Tenerife.
The detainee had an active order to enter prison dating back to April 2022, after being sentenced to jail for burglary in a private home in the village of Chirche (Guía de Isora).
Authorities confirmed that the man never served the sentence and had been in hiding ever since to avoid police detection, and has a significant criminal history, including multiple offences against property and road safety, as well as crimes related to domestic violence and ill-treatment within the family environment.
Found hiding in Chío
Following an ongoing investigation, officers from the Puesto Principal de Guía de Isora identified the property where the fugitive was believed to be hiding, located in the nearby village of Chío.
With prior judicial authorisation, agents entered the home and successfully arrested the man. Officers from the Citizen Security Unit (USECIC) assisted in the operation.
The individual has now been transferred to prison to serve the sentence previously imposed.
Local residents have welcomed news of the arrest, as the man had been regarded as a persistent offender in the municipality.
