Seven people were treated for smoke inhalation following a fire in a fifth-floor apartment of a seven-story aparthotel in Costa Adeje last night (Wednesday). The incident occurred at around 9:15pm at a complex on Avenida de Colón in the San Eugenio area of Las Americas in the south of Tenerife.
The victims include two men, aged 38 and 54, a 60-year-old woman, and a two-year-old British girl, who were all taken to Hospiten Sur for further medical care after being treated by paramedics at the scene of the fire.
The three other people affected by the smoke were also treated at the scene and did not require additional medical attention.
The fire brigade responded quickly after receiving the alert, and successfully extinguished the fire and ventilated the building, including the smoke-filled fifth floor. They have determined that the fire originated from a refrigerator inside the apartment.
