A driver is facing a fine after being caught driving through the protected sand dunes of Corralejo Natural Park in Fuerteventura. Local Police in La Oliva detected the vehicle inside the restricted area last night (Thursday).
Officers identified the vehicle after it entered the beach zone, where it later became stuck due to the driver’s actions. Police described the incident as reckless and confirmed the car had to be left where it was and could not be moved.
Driving in protected natural areas is strictly prohibited under environmental regulations designed to preserve fragile ecosystems. Authorities say incidents like this can cause lasting damage to the dunes, which are a major attraction for visitors and an important natural habitat.
A sanction will now be issued in line with current legislation. The amount of the fine has not yet been disclosed.
