Euro 2024 champions are coming to Tenerife
The Heliodoro Stadium, home of CD Tenerife, will host an official UEFA Nations League Qualifier on Monday November 18th between Euro 2024 champions Spain, and quarter finalists Switzerland, as confirmed by the vice president of the Tenerife Cabildo, Lope Afonso.
The last time the national team played on the Island was back in 1996 when they defeated Slovakia 4-1. The match will be the first in a chain of events to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Heliodoro Stadium, home of local club CD Tenerife. Ticket details should be released soon and a full house of 22,500 is expected.
Meanwhile, work continues to restore the pitch at the stadium after damage caused by the Ed Sheeran concert. A complete overhaul of the stadium seats should start this week as well as extensive work to improve the players changing rooms.
A modern cladding will adorn the exterior and an updated large screen scoreboard will be installed in time for the 2025 celebrations.
