Emergency landing at Tenerife South airport due to possible fuel leak

A plane was forced to make an emergency diversion and landing at Tenerife South Airport yesterday afternoon (Saturday), after the pilot reported a possible fuel leak, as reported by Air Traffic Controllers (ATC).

The crew informed ATC of the situation who immediately diverted the plane and cleared the approach to Tenerife South Airport by making other flights circle and wait to land, prioritising the plane that had taken off from Gran Canaria.

Fortunately, the plane managed to land safely with the emergency services ready for when it landed, and the runway was cleared without any further incidents.

Once safely on the ground, the passengers were evacuated from the plane so that it could undergo a thorough inspection to find out why warning lights came on not long after take off.

This event highlights the effectiveness and swift response of air traffic controllers in emergency situations, ensuring the safety of passengers and crew.
