An electric car lost control this morning (Friday) in Santa Úrsula, in the north of Tenerife, and crashed into the terrace of a café, injuring several people who were in the area at the time. The most seriously injured victim is a woman who suffered an open fracture to her arm.

She was taken by ambulance to the Hospital Universitario de Canarias for treatment. Others caught up in the accident were treated at the café for shock after the vehicle ploughed into the terrace unexpectedly.

According to initial reports, the car first collided with a parked vehicle before ploughing into the outdoor seating area of the café, causing severe damage and panic among passers-by.

The emergency services quickly arrived, secured the area, and assisted the injured. Authorities are now investigating the cause of the accident.

Unfortunately, this is not a unique incident. In March 2024, a car in La Laguna mounted the pavement and crashed into the entrance of a bar, leaving people with a range of injuries.

Just a few months earlier, in Las Palmas, a driver lost control and smashed into the front of a house, causing a lot of structural damage but fortunately no serious injuries. In 2023, another high-profile incident occurred in Arrecife, Lanzarote, when a vehicle collided with the terrace of a café during the busy evening hours, forcing emergency services to evacuate the area.
