Drug Bust in South Tenerife: 14 arrests and 6 businesses closed

In a sweeping series of operations, the National Police, working alongside the local authorities, dismantled six drug distribution points posing as cannabis clubs for members only, in the south of Tenerife.

This coordinated effort resulted in fourteen arrests, with the detainees facing charges related to varying degrees of involvement in drug trafficking operations.

Authorities conducted comprehensive searches and inspections of the suspect premises, leading to the discovery of a substantial quantity of illegal substances. Seized items included 4 kilograms of marijuana, 500 grams of hashish, 213 grams of rosin, as well as hashish-infused products like vape cartridges and cans. The raid also uncovered 11,815 euros in cash, two single doses of crack, a gram of cocaine, and 192 doses of nitrous oxide.

Notably, two of the establishments targeted in this operation had been previously closed by authorities for failing to meet essential safety standards. However, they had both reopened and resumed operations without permission or implementing the required improvements, posing safety risks to patrons and resulting in further penalties.

In addition to drugs and cash, authorities found food items laced with THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), along with marijuana joints, mobile phones, and equipment used for weighing and distributing the drugs.

The arrested individuals have been handed over to judicial authorities and face charges of suspected drug trafficking. The premises involved in this crackdown have been sealed by the Local Police, citing severe safety violations.
