Drone Show will light up the Tenerife sky this weekend

This Saturday, the skies above La Laguna will be lit up by a spectacular drone display, marking one of the most eye-catching events in the city’s celebrations of 25 years as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The show will take place around the Francisco Peraza Municipal Stadium, commonly known as La Manzanilla, and will be visible from vantage points across the historic city centre.

Originally scheduled for last December, the event was postponed due to poor weather conditions. It has now been rescheduled to coincide with La Laguna’s “Family Day” festivities, which will see various activities throughout the city, culminating in this unique aerial display.

The show will feature 220 drones equipped with RGB LED lights, choreographed to form illuminated figures in the night sky. The visual narrative will include imagery connected to La Laguna, UNESCO, and the Group of World Heritage Cities of Spain (GCPHE), of which La Laguna is the only Canary Islands member.

When and Where to See the Drone Show

The performance is scheduled to begin at 9:30pm on Saturday, and spectators are encouraged to head to Plaza de la Junta Suprema, Camino Largo, or Camino de Las Peras for the best views.

This high-tech celebration has been designed with environmental and social sensitivity in mind. The show will generate no CO₂ emissions or waste and, being silent, it poses no noise disturbance to people or pets.

However, the event remains subject to weather conditions. The drone flight will be suspended in the event of rain, fog, or winds exceeding 11 km/h. The operator may cancel or delay the show if safety cannot be guaranteed.

The initiative is organised by La Laguna City Council in partnership with UMILES, a leading drone display company with over 500 international shows to its name, and the Group of World Heritage Cities of Spain (GCPHE).
