The Guardia Civil have arrested a 25-year-old man from Santa Cruz (Tenerife), accused of repeatedly stealing parcels containing high-end electronics while working for a courier company, and later reselling the items online.
According to investigators, using his position as an employee at the delivery firm, the suspect allegedly accessed and stole packages, mainly containing valuable electronic items such as laptops and mobile phones, worth over €13,500.
The case began in February when the courier company started noticing missing items. Initially, these were thought to be isolated losses. However, as the incidents became more frequent, the company filed a formal complaint with the Guardia Civil in Candelaria.
Following the complaint, officers launched a thorough investigation. Through surveillance and collecting evidence, they confirmed that several laptops, smartphones, and other valuable items had been stolen, and identified the suspected employee as the person responsible. A search led to the recovery of part of the stolen merchandise, which will be returned to the rightful owners.
The suspect has now been handed over to the judicial authorities along with the case files, and faces charges of continued misappropriation.
