A dangerous fugitive wanted by Polish authorities and facing a potential 485-year prison sentence has been arrested in South Tenerife. The man has been linked to more than 40 serious offences, and has been living on the island with his family.
Officers from the National Police tracked down the suspect following a request from Poland in September 2025. He was wanted under a European Arrest Warrant for crimes including drug trafficking, illegal weapons possession, fraud, and other offences.
Investigators discovered he had been using false documents and taking extensive precautions to avoid detection. When officers first found him at his home in Arona, he fled inside and escaped by jumping from a rear balcony around five metres high.
In February, he was spotted again during a routine traffic stop using fake identification. He fled in a vehicle, driving dangerously and colliding with several cars, putting both officers and other road users at risk.
Police later discovered him hiding in another property in a difficult-to-monitor area. The house’s position at the end of a cul-de-sac made it easier for him to detect police presence and attempt to escape.
A coordinated operation involving specialist officers was launched last week. The fugitive was finally arrested while walking his dog near the property, after attempting to flee once more on foot.
Authorities have not ruled out further proceedings as the extradition process begins.
