Firefighters were called for help at around 10:30am on Sunday morning, after a child was accidentally locked inside a car in San Isidro in the south of Tenerife.
They arrived at the location given, and, after confirming it could be done safely, broke one of the car windows to rescue the child.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the child and parents were reunited without harm to anyone. The rescue was one of several incidents Tenerife’s fire service responded to over the weekend.
In the early hours of Saturday, firefighters from Guía de Isora tackled a fire in Chío after a car was deliberately set alight. Flames also spread to a nearby palm tree, but were quickly brought under control with the assistance of the Local Police.
On Friday afternoon at around 5:15pm, crews from San Miguel de Abona were dispatched to a hotel in Las Américas following reports of a room fire. By the time they arrived, staff at the complex had already extinguished the flames. Firefighters ventilated the affected area to clear the smoke.
