A traffic accident followed by a vehicle fire caused significant delays on the busy TF-1 motorway in the south of Tenerife this afternoon, Saturday, according to reports from the Canary Islands Emergency Services (CECOES).
The incident happened near exit 66 for Parque La Reina in the municipality of Arona, heading southbound toward Los Cristianos and Playa Las Americas.
Two cars were involved in a collision, after which the front of one vehicle, which had crashed into the back of the other, caught fire. Firefighters from Tenerife were quickly on the scene and managed to extinguish the flames.
SUC medical personnel attended to a 21-year-old man who suffered an anxiety attack as a result of the incident and took him to Adeje Health Centre for treatment.
Traffic built up heavily in the area, with long queues forming while emergency teams worked at the scene. Tenerife Fire Service, Guardia Civil, and staff from the Cabildo’s Department of Roads were all involved in managing the situation and restoring safety to the road.
