Cabildo approves initial 4.5 million euros for 78 residential properties in Tenerife

The Governing Council of the Tenerife Cabildo approved the first batch of funding yesterday (Tuesday) for municipalities within the framework of the Insular Plan Activa Vivienda, which is an action plan for residential housing, of 4.45 million euros for 78 housing units in six municipalities.

These include 23 in San Miguel de Abona (with the Cabildo contributing 970,650 euros, in addition to 1.5 million from the local council); five in La Guancha (Cabildo contribution of 530,000 euros); three in Arico (with 355,000 euros from the Cabildo); 15 in Buenavista del Norte (one million euros, all from the Cabildo); six in El Tanque (600,000 euros); and 26 in Santa Úrsula (one million from the Cabildo, adding to the 1.1 million from the local council).

This was announced yesterday by the president of the Cabildo, Rosa Dávila, and the vice president, Lope Afonso, who said: “These are already built or unfinished housing units that are not on the market. They have been previously identified by the municipalities and are suitable for immediate residential use. The allocation is now up to the municipalities, as they know what is needed the best, with the unwavering goal of making them available under social rental schemes."

Afonso said that, "of the 300 applications received by the department, we will be able to put more than 200 housing units on the market this year, with the budget already allocated, without ruling out the possibility of incorporating some more through budget adjustments that may be made by the end of the year, up to the total target of 300 housing units, which was the plan for 2024."
