In response to the arrival of Storm Emilia, the Tenerife Cabildo has activated maximum emergency measures as a precaution to protect public safety.
The Island Emergency Plan (PEIN) was activated last night at Maximum Alert level, reflecting the seriousness of the forecast weather conditions, which include strong winds, heavy rain and a heightened risk of dangerous sea and mountain conditions.
From 3.00pm today, all access and movement will be prohibited on forest tracks, hiking trails, rural paths and off-road areas located within Protected Natural Spaces across the island. This decision has been taken due to the high risk of landslides, falling trees and localised flooding, particularly in elevated and wooded areas.
In addition, staying in campsites, camping zones and recreational areas within these protected spaces is strictly prohibited for the duration of the alert.
As part of the emergency measures, public transport services to the Masca ravine and Punta de Teno have been temporarily suspended, as both areas are especially vulnerable to adverse weather and rockfalls.
Residents and visitors are urged to respect all restrictions, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow updates from official sources until the emergency situation is lifted.
