Police have arrested a man accused of carrying out a series of thefts and break-ins across Arona and Adeje in the south of Tenerife, following an investigation into dozens of robberies affecting businesses, apartments, and hotels.
According to the National Police, the suspect is believed to be responsible for more than 30 property-related offences committed so far this year in popular tourist areas of the island.
The investigation began after officers received multiple reports of burglaries taking place within a short period of time and in the same area. Many of the incidents involved commercial premises, holiday apartments, and hotel rooms.
Police said the suspect gained entry by forcing doors and other access points, or by climbing perimeter walls and fences, before entering hotel rooms through windows.
Once inside, he allegedly stole cash, jewellery, and bank cards, which were later used fraudulently.
Officers were eventually able to identify and arrest the suspect, described as a repeat offender with more than 70 previous arrests on record.
He has been charged with burglary, theft, and fraud offences and has now been remanded in custody pending further judicial proceedings.
