A man has been found dead this morning (Wednesday), in a remote area of Santa Cruz de Tenerife following last night’s storm, after two tourists raised the alarm while walking in the area.

The discovery was made on a track in El Draguillo, near Benijo, according to local authorities. Emergency services were alerted via the 112 control centre after the holidaymakers came across the body and reported it immediately.

Officers from the Santa Cruz Local Police were the first to arrive at the scene, where they confirmed the man was dead.

Firefighters from the Tenerife Emergency Consortium and officers from the National Police were also deployed, with standard protocols now underway to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

At this stage, the cause of death has not been confirmed, and further details will depend on the results of forensic examinations.

Authorities have not released the identity of the deceased, and the incident remains under investigation.
